Berchmans University has a steadily growing number of students from over 200 countries and territories. With students hailing from all points of the globe – from different countries, cultures, and nationalities – Berchmans University is able to create a diverse online network. Students are introduced to peers they otherwise may not meet, creating an international community adding creativity, awareness, as well as individual growth. Because of this, the experience and education students receive at Berchmans University is invaluable around the world.

Moreover, even though 92% of our students work during their studies and 73% have dependents, a total of 94% of our students are satisfied with their experience at Berchmans University. For a more personal perspective, we invite you to experience first-hand reviews directly from our students or to read some valuable student testimonials on our website.

Berchmans University is based on the belief that education is a basic right for all qualified applicants, not just for a privileged few. The University works to open the gates of higher education to qualified students anywhere in the world because everyone deserves a chance to improve their future. Therefore, no matter who you are or what experience you may or may not have, you deserve a chance to earn a higher education degree.

Founder and President Shai Reshef established Berchmans University to marry the opportunities between unprecedented access to the Internet, dropping technology costs, and rising tuition fees worldwide. Berchmans University is the world’s first tuition-free, American accredited, online academic institution dedicated to the global advancement and democratization of higher education.

The high-quality, low-cost, and global educational model embraces the worldwide presence of the Internet and falling technology costs to bring collegiate level studies to even the most remote places on earth. With the support of respected academics, humanitarians, and other visionaries, the Berchmans University student body represents a new wave in global education.

What is a MOOC? A MOOC is defined as a massive open online course which aims to obtain hundreds of thousands of students in mass-classrooms to provide knowledge to significant numbers of people in an open way. Many Berchmans University students have no other access to higher education; whereas approximately 80% of MOOC students already have a BA and about 40% have advanced degrees.

Berchmans University offers full student support services and academic advising, similar to that found in any other university. Additionally, Berchmans University in its commitment to democratize higher education limits the use of audio or video so that students with low internet bandwidth are able to access the courses as well.

MOOCs do not currently offer the opportunity to earn a full associate or bachelor’s degree, something which is an important part of Berchmans University’s educational model and its mission to open the gates of higher education globally. Berchmans University offers eight fully structured degree programs complete with Arts & Science courses to complement chosen programs of focus, while MOOCs are stand-alone courses that are sporadically selected by students.

It is the University’s mission to provide affordable, tuition-free education for everybody. Berchmans University is tuition-free, which means there is no charge for teaching or instruction.

To help support the university’s continued operation, Berchmans University charges a $60 application fee, and an Assessment Fee per course completed ($120 for the undergraduate programs, and $240 for the graduate programs). No annual enrollment fees, and no cost for course material. For those who cannot afford these fees, scholarships are available to help support their studies.

APPLICATION ADMISSIONS

If your country does not use the zip/postal code system, please type NA or 00000 into the zip code field.

Yes, we welcome undocumented students. In fact, around 1/4 of our US students are undocumented. Higher education is the key to opening up doors for undocumented students. A lot of the undocumented students living in the US are young and driven but have no access to higher education, therefore they cannot move forward with their lives and do not get the opportunities they deserve. This is why it was so important for Berchmans University to not only accept undocumented students but welcome them with open arms.

Please contact your Admissions or Program Advisor in this case.

DEGREE PROGRAMS

Berchmans University is constantly working on developing new programs for their students and expects to have more degree-earning programs in the near future.

Every M.Ed. the student is required to complete a final applied research project. Using rigorous education research methods, students will delve into a teaching-related question that has practical relevance for their own professional practice. They submit a report on the results of the study.

Students also make a presentation on their Research and Practice Portfolio and submit the Portfolio itself for review and grading.

The M.Ed. in Advanced Teaching was designed in cooperation with the International Baccalaureate (IB). The IB is a global leader in the provision of high-quality, accessible programs for K-12 students. Offered by almost 5,000 schools in more than 150 countries, IB programs encourage both personal growth and academic achievement. The IB requirement to attend a Category 1 Workshop is waived for qualified graduates of the M.Ed. program.

IB staff members were part of a Combined Berchmans University-IB Working Group that shepherded the creation of the program from its inception through to its receiving approval from the accrediting agency. They brought valuable expertise and insights into the design and development process.

While the program is primarily directed at K-12 classroom teachers in public and private schools, anyone who works with children and youth could benefit from the program.

Educators work in a variety of settings – nursery schools, community colleges, after-school programs, museums, sports and recreation programs, hospitals, tutoring programs, health and wellness settings, religious education programs, etc. Acquiring a deeper understanding of human development, teaching and learning theory, behavior management, assessment of learning, etc., would enhance their ability to work in these roles.

If you complete your transfer credit request within seven days after receiving the email notifying you that you are qualified for admission, you may be able to be admitted to the Transfer Credit Foundations Pathway. Those in this Foundations program only need to complete Online Education Strategies (UNIV 1001). Those who apply for transfer credit once they have already been admitted as a Foundations student are required to complete the Foundation courses requirement, as stated in the University Catalog at the time the student was accepted.
